Be Ye Doers. . . Of The Word!

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." (James 1:22-NIV)

Christians Are Still Right!
By: Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

Christians have always opposed "the way of the world." For instance:

Christians have always taught that tobacco usage in any form (smoking of cigarettes, cigars, pipes, rubbing snuff, chewing, etc.) was bad for one's health and addictive. Now, the American Medical Association agrees.

Christian have taught that drinking alcohol in any amounts should be avoided. Beer, whiskey, wine may quench one's thirst temporarily, but the consequences are costly:

* addiction which leads to alcoholism
* ruined marriages
* spouse and child abuse
* loss of employment
* wrecked autos
* loss of driver's license
* rejection of God and His ways as well as His church
* loss of health

Just as with tobacco, the American Medical Association also agrees the "cost of drink" is not worth it.

Christians have always approved of prescribed medications, but certainly not illegal use of drugs.

We have seen the horrors of illegal drug trafficking and its consequences on the American public. In order to obtain drugs, people will stoop to the following:

* stealing cheating
* gambling prostitution
* producing porno films, etc.

Christians have always spoken against "fornication." This is an archaic word that came from the Greek word "porneia." This is the root of our modern English term "pornography." It is translated "immorality" in most modern Bible translations. It means "illegal sexuality." It includes:

* homosexuality (sex between males)
* adultery (sex between two people of the opposite sex in which case at least one is married to another person)
* lesbianism (sex between two females)
* incest (sex between two people within the same family, other than a husband and wife. Examples: ---father with his daughter, mother with her son, etc.) ---bestiality (sex with an animal)

Long before AIDS was thought of, the Christian community was shouting loudly, "avoid this terrible sin" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This was the only sin which Jesus gave as a reason for one to divorce (Matthew 19:9).

There would be no need for condom machines in schools to prevent V.D. if the world would listen to Christians.

Christians have always taught that literature and movies should be kept "clean," wholesome and not offensive, nor demoralizing and down-grading to mankind.

Now major TV networks are seeing the fruits of their forfeitures of Godly standards. Their showing of violence is now resulting in children carrying guns to school and shooting students and teachers.

Now we are reaping lower I.Q. scores for today's students from our multi-million dollar school buildings.

The ACLU (American Civil Liberty Union) has done its very best in getting evolution into the school curriculum and the Bible out. Thus, we see many youth acting as though they have come from a monkey (Darwin's idea) and seemingly wanting to live by the law of the jungle. (However, animals do not abort their unborn, as many "civilized" Americans are doing today.) Yes, a person or a nation does reap what they sow (Galatians 6:7).

Repenting is the answer. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

May our God help us as individuals to truly turn to God's ways! God has always been right and His devoted followers likewise! Hopefully, America and the entire world will listen to God, as His ways are communicated through His people (Christians).
