Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." (James 1:22-NIV)

The Price of Immorality
By: James D. Spinnati

DATELINE, Saturday, November 7, 1992, Washington D.C., CINCINNATI ENQUIRER NEWS SERVICE: For all the uncertainty that comes with a new president, one thing seems clear: The nation's 20- year battle over abortion is winding down. Abortion rights advocates are elated. "The 12-year Reagan- Bush nightmare for women is over. It's morning in America," said David Andrews, acting president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

And I heard a loud cry coming from Heaven. "America has cried to me day and night for an ungodly ruler. The sound of their constant whining will not stop. I have sent my preachers from coast to coast, but America has stopped her ears to the Gospel. She cares little about spiritual matters. A dollar has become her driving force." Another voice was heard saying, "What shall we do with her?" "Give her the ungodly ruler she deserves, so she might drink of the immoral cup of wrath." Then a voice cried, "Bring me the seven cups that America must drink." As I raised my head, the first cup was brought before me; and I read the inscription.

I. THE CUP OF HOMOSEXUALITY

The first cup was the cup of homosexuality. He poured it on America, and I saw death and heartache - the heartache that only comes from disobeying God. The wrath of the Lord was turned against the land. In every city, in every state, death reigned. From children to widows, the mournful cry was heard. I asked, "Who are these?" He replied, "These are all heterosexuals." I lifted my head and said, "Why did they have to die?" Then a groan came as a resounding cymbal: "Because they would not stand against immorality. Whoever will not stand must drink the cup." Then I turned my head from east to west and saw millions upon millions who had died from aids. Their number was greater than I could count. As my eyes scanned the country, I could not believe what I saw. For men were still lying with men, and women were still lying with women. No repentance was seen, and I heard him say, "Bring the second cup."

II. THE CUP OF HUMANISM

The next cup brought before me was the cup of humanism. The voice said, "America likes the taste, so she must drink the whole cup." He then began to pour it upon America. I saw our schools, but no Bible was to be found. Then I heard the pledge of allegiance, but God's name was no longer spoken. I saw a quarter on a street corner and hurried to pick it up. I frantically read the back and it said, "In us we trust." I heard a church bell ring and ran to the door. There was no Bible to be found there anymore. I can still hear the "preacher's" voice as he read, "There isn't any God; have it your way instead!" I bowed my head and wept for America because of her neglect.

III. THE CUP OF ABORTION

The third cup was the cup of abortion. It was filled with tears from all who were killed throughout the years. Little feet and little hands - it was more than I could stand! The babies didn't have a chance. The millstone of wrath was hung around America's neck. Inscribed on the millstone was one word written with the blood of the slain: HYPOCRITE! You promise freedom for all, yet you murder! Then I saw the Statue of Liberty and tears were falling from her eyes. "Where has freedom gone? Where have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness gone?" she cried.

IV. THE CUP OF IDLENESS

The fourth cup was the cup of idleness. It was poured out full strength upon the width and breadth of America. I saw people lying on every street corner and in every doorway. There was not one willing to work. Everyone possessed a check in their hand, and on their forehead was written, "Welfare." Nary a one so much as moved a muscle to plant a seed or pull a weed. The American dream had been ground up in mediocrity. I shouted, "Resurrect Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln! They will show the way!" The voice spoke in solemn refrain, "That time is past. This is America's new day."

V. THE CUP OF COWARDLINESS

The fifth cup was the cup of cowardliness. It was poured out upon the army of America. I saw America's strength dwindling. The once proud armies of America were in retreat against her enemies. The rate of desertions were astronomical. The soldiers even protested their country's resolve. I looked to see if they would be shot for their disobedience. I saw their new Commander in Chief in the White House. His face was to the wall. How could he shoot any of them when he had done it all? Disgrace was written across America's face. Oh, what shame I felt! Heartache cut through my very being as I saw the once grand, old flag lying on the ground, burning. I shouted, "America, America, what has happened to you?" The voice said, "Turn your head, for there is nothing you can do."

VI. THE CUP OF DEBT

He took the sixth cup, the cup of debt, and poured it upon America. I've never seen so many poor Americans. The lines for bread and milk were longer than ever before. The chains of debt were around each and every neck. "Buy now - pay later," I heard a father tell his son. Then I heard the voice say, "America, you who used to stand for bravery, have charged your way to slavery! You who used to be the head, are now all but dead! You who used to be at the top, have had a great drop! Faced with high interest and inflation, you're in a dreadful situation! There you must stay, because you didn't trust in God to provide the way."

VII. THE CUP OF SATAN

The seventh and last cup was brought before me. It was full of fire and smoke. "What cup is this?" I barely spoke. With a loud voice he said, "It's the cup of Satan - America must drink of it. America has turned from God's word. She has turned from the truth of the Gospel. She would rather believe a lie instead of the truth. America has turned from God's one and only Son. Now she must pay for what she has done! She wanted the ruler that lied, committed adultery, loves homosexuals, believes in abortion, smoked pot, and ran from his duty to his country. That is the "leader" she wanted, and that is the one she got. Just like Israel of old, she wanted her king; and now she will receive full recompense for her sin. God's way was not her way. God's church is empty, and the liquor stores of America are full. It is time to pay the price for her sin. Today is the day America must pay!" He began to pour the cup upon America saying, "The wages of sin is death."

I screamed, "Is there any way to stop this?" His voice was like a whisper as he spoke, "The way has never changed. 'If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn away from their wicked ways; then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.'" (2 Chronicles 7:14)
